Restriction digests of the clone give the following sizes (kb): SalI--2.9, 2.6; EcoRI--3.5, 2.0; HindIII--5.5; BamHI--2.9, 2.6; PstI--5.5; consistent with deposited DNA. The insert contains the following restriction sites (nucleotide position according to the published sequence): PvuII--717, 1438; EcoRI--736, 765; SacI--1017. GLUT3 is the brain type of transporter. This insert contains the complete coding sequence, including nucleotides 115-2742 of the published sequence. It does not contain the Alu repeat in the 3' untranslated region (nucleotides 3429-3712). This probe detects transcripts of 4.1 kb (major) and 2.7 kb (minor) in various tissues. The size difference results from alternative polyadenylation. |
