Mice were immunized with E. coli DNA polymerase III' containing the alpha, epsilon, theta and tau subunits. Spleen cells were fused with P3X63Ag8.653 myeloma cells.
The antibody is specific for the alpha subunit and recognizes a determinant present only on the denatured enzyme. The site recognized by the 68-1-2 antibody is distinct from that recognized by 123-10 (ATCC CRL-1707) but is adjacent to, or interacts with, the 123-10 site. |
