Derivation	NCI-H2122 was derived from pleural effusion from a 46 year old White female with adenocarcinoma of the lung. NCI-BL2122 BL is a B lymphoblastoid cell line initiated by Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) transformation of peripheral blood lymphocytes obtained from the same patient as NCI-H2122.

Complete Growth Medium	The base medium for this cell line is ATCC-formulated RPMI-1640 Medium, ATCC 30-2001. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: fetal bovine serum (ATCC 30-2020) to a final concentration of 10%.
Subculturing	Cultures can be maintained by the addition of fresh medium or replacement of medium. Alternatively, cultures can be established by centrifugation with subsequent resuspension at 5 to 7 x 10⁵ viable cells/mL. A maximum of 1 to 2 x 10⁶cells/mL is obtainable. Cultures grow as floating aggregates of large cell clusters. Add medium as cell density increases. Double volume approximately every 6 to 7 days. Medium Renewal: Add fresh medium every 2 to 3 days (depending on cell density)
