Animals were immunized with the GCC-SV(c) human choriocarcinoma cell line. Spleen cells were fused with NS-1 myeloma cells. The SV63 antibody reacts with an epitope present on the placental, intestinal, and germ cell forms of human alkaline phosphatase, but not on the liver/kidney/bone form of the enzyme. The antibody precipitates a glycoprotein about 68000 daltons from extracts of choriocarcinoma cells. |
| Complete Growth Medium |
The base medium for this cell line is ATCC-formulated RPMI-1640 Medium, Catalog No. 30-2001. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium:
- fetal bovine serum to a final concentration of 10%
- HT
- 1 mM non-essential amino acids

| Subculturing |
Medium Renewal: Add fresh medium every 2 to 3 days (depending on cell density)
Cultures can be maintained by the addition of fresh medium or replacement of medium. Alternatively, cultures can be established by centrifugation with subsequent resuspension in fresh medium.
Maintain cell density between 1 X 105 and 1 X 106 viable cells/ml.
Growth is enhanced by using a feeder layer of irradiated STO cells. |
