Animals were immunized with human thymic stroma. Spleen cells were fused with NS-1 myeloma cells. The antibody reacts with granular foci among the cellular swirls of Hassall's bodies. It defines an antigen that is acquired between 14 and 16 weeks of fetal gestation, and marks the terminal stages of epidermal keratinocyte maturation. The antibody binds specifically to granular foci among the cellular swirls of most Hassall's bodies and to stratum corneum of skin epidermis and foreskin. Tested and found negative for ectromelia virus (mousepox). |
